A little bit of history

In 1918, the municipality of Lorient renamed the “rue du Pont” into “rue de Verdun”, in homage to the dead of the First World War. Its previous name of “rue du Pont” was due to the fact that the tramway used to pass there to access the neighboring town of Lanester via the Saint-Christophe bridge which spans the river Scorff.
By the way, when you look up in front of the facade, you can see the cable hook of the tramway. Without doubt the last one in Lorient. It is preserved preciously on the residence!
